Face Full of Pimple Scars??? Feeling Depressed?

You are not alone! In fact, everyone goes through this stage in their lives. Unfortunately, so many teenagers and young adults with problems of Pimples are seriously misinformed by marketing and sales gimmicks. They end up hopping from product to product, without seeing any significant or lasting result and finally end up battling acne for many years, with nothing but deep depressed scars to show for it.

After this depressing battle, you’re then left with a long period of recovery. Unfortunately for many, the recovery is incomplete, and you are left with rough skin, open pores, ice pick scars, rolling scars, box car scars and pigmented or purple scars.

Many people do not realize that there is actually very effective treatments for scars available!

Here are a few important facts about Acne Scars which you need to know about.

Important Fact No 1: Your doctor is the person best equipped to deal with Pimple Scars.

Stop spending thousands in beauty salons and hopping from one treatment to another.  Only a doctor can administer EVIDENCE BASED TREATMENTS that have been medically researched to improve your skin.  Acne scar treatment is a complex topic with varying types of treatments.  You can only improve with a TREATMENT REGIMEN THAT IS CUSTOMISED TO YOUR SKIN.

Important Fact No 2: Acne Scars CAN BE COMPLETELY TREATED using the CORRECT equipment and Treatments.

There are 1001 different lasers and treatment machines in the market which claim to improve acne scars and Pimples.  From our years of testing and experience treating patients, we have selected as part of our protocol ONLY 3 MACHINES which are extremely effective in treating Acne Scars.  Many patients who have gone through this protocol have been SUCCESSFULLY TREATED and now have GREAT LOOKING SKIN.

Important Fact No 3: Acne Scars Should Improve with Every Treatment.

With our treatments that have been curated and selected for their efficacy, YOU WILL SEE RESULTS WITH EVERY TREATMENT.  Acne scars cannot be treated overnight.  Just like it took many years to develop a face full of scars, it also takes many months to treat them.  I have encountered many patients who have spent months with other treatments, to finally have NO RESULT.  Depending on the depth of the scars, a number of treatments may be necessary to achieve a good final result.

Don’t Leave Your Skin Full of Pitted And Depressed Scars!

Your skin is important to you. In this day and age, appearance is more and more important in society. Having a great complexion is an asset.

With the advent of technology, NEW OPTIONS are now available to sufferers of acne scars. Compared with other conventional treatments like full laser resurfacing and dermabrasion, our treatments are lower downtime, safer and less painful.

How Do We Treat Pimple Scars?

We make no secret of the treatments which we use to improve your scars. Our custom tailored protocol may include:

1. Fractional Radiofrequency Treatment – Infini

Fractional RF is excellent for very deep scars. With RF, the depth of treatment can be up to 3.5mm deep, providing the maximal result from a non-invasive treatment. The RF treatment has an added advantage of lifting the face, making one look younger.  After developing the protocol for this treatment known as Infini for the last 1.5 years, and using it on many pimple scar patients, I am now absolutely convinced that this is the single best treatment for depressed acne scars.  I have tried eMatrix, eTwo, Scarlet, Intracel, Sciton Profractional, Fraxel, Pixel, and many other treatments purported to improve acne scars.  Some work some don’t work so well, but this is the treatment I have found to be very consistent in producing obvious and significant improvements to skin.  I had a lady who came to me for moderate acne scarring and after 4 treatments her face is smooth and almost scar free.  Not everyone achieves this kind of result, but it is impressive to say the least.  I used to think that deep acne scars would never have this kind of result, but this has redefined my thinking about acne scar treatments.  If you have scars like these, don’t worry!  They are treatable with Infini.

Deep acne scars, box-car, ice-pick and rolling scars

Deep acne scars, rolling, boxcar and icepick scars

Deep acne scars – rolling, boxcar and icepick scars that can be treated with Infini

2. Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment

Fractional CO2 excels at treating depressed acne scars. The depth of treatment for CO2 laser is up to 1.5mm deep, and has the bonus of making skin fairer and giving it a radiant glow.  For the more budget conscious, this is a great option.  Used alone for superficial scars, or in conjunction with Infini, the results are excellent.

3. Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser

The Q-switched laser excels at lightening pigmented and vascular scars. Often, scars are purple or brown, making acne look worse than it actually is. Once it is effectively lightened with the laser, skin looks noticeably clearer. This laser also gives skin a nice glow and smoothness.  This laser has no downtime and is not very painful.  Hence, it is well tolerated by almost all of my patients and they can pop in to the clinic, do the treatment and get back to work after that.  Performed at an interval of once every 2-4 weeks, the scar lightening is accelerated.

4. Scar lightening peels and creams

We make use of a combination of peels and creams which can lighten scars and promote healing.  In particular, I like to use Cosmelan to really lighten pigmented acne scars.  Cosmelan only helps a little for pitted or depressed scars, but for pigmented scars, it is very effective.

5. Subcision and Fillers

For certain very deep scars, we make use of subcision to free the scars deep attachments and add some filler to get an immediate lifting of the scar.  In needle subcision, we make use of a fine needle to go under the scar to break up the tight collagen bands under the skin.  This frees up the deep attachments to allow the skin to flatten and elevate.  Subcision is a double edged sword and should be used only selectively.  This is because the trauma of the procedure may actually result in a worse scar being formed instead.

About Dr Chow Yuen Ho, MBBS

Dr Chow Yuen Ho graduated from Medical School in National University of Singapore in 1999 and has a special interest in aesthetics and skincare. He trained in Singapore General Hospital Department of Dermatology and started TCS Aesthetics Central, an aesthetic and cosmetic surgery clinic at The Central at Clarke Quay. He has been treating patients with acne for over a decade and has developed his protocol which he finds is suitable for oily Singaporean and tropical skin types.

Dr Chow suffered from severe acne during his younger days.  It was only after he consulted with a doctor that his acne was successfully treated.  He has undergone several laser treatments to improve his acne scars, and hence the treatment of acne and pimple scars is an area of special interest for him.

Do DIY Treatments Work?

Unfortunately not for all types of scars. Certain lightening creams may work on pigmented scars and purple scars, but for depressed scars, it is safe to say that most DIY treatments do not work well. In addition, there are some self peel kits available on the internet which may potentially cause serious burns to the skin. Patients are well advised to steer clear of self administered AHA/BHA/PHA peels of high concentrations for safety reasons.

How Long Will I Take to See Results?

We are confident that you will see improvements WITH EVERY TREATMENT. You do not need a course of treatments to see improvements. For patients who are younger and do not smoke, their skin will heal faster. Hence they see results sooner than others.

To get complete healing of scars, typical healing times may be between 3 months to as many as 12 months for patients with deep scars. We cannot guarantee complete healing of scars, as everybody’s skin varies. However, we are confident of a marked improvement in the skin.

Hi, I am a 30yr old female, non smoker wz boxcar scars (and a few other types I think) dt varies frm fairly recent (a year) to fairly old…Would msm cream (brand mrm) help..? Would collagen supplements and serum help aa well..? Tq..

    • adminpim says:

Usually topical creams do not help acne scars. This is because these scars are due to structural problems with the skin. You would need laser treatments to get below the surface of the skin and improve the dermis layer.

  2. melvin says:

    Hi doc ,
i have some shallow rolling scars over my cheeks and forehead area and a few boxscar over at my temples . By any chance can my scars be removed completely ? or at least up to 90-95% , because im still young at the age of 18

    • adminpim says:

Yes as you are young, the recovery rate is excellent. You will need to commit and work hard at the scars, because it’s not an overnight phenomenon, but I’ve patients who have recovered 90-95% (nearly invisible scars)

  3. Raymond says:

Hi doc. Just to check if there is any scar treatment that can be done while I’m on low dosage *DRUG NAME BLOCKED BY GOOGLE*? Have been on *DRUG NAME BLOCKED BY GOOGLE* 20mg for 8 months and my acne have all cleared up completely, but leaving behind some ice pick and rolling scars. I’ve heard tca cross and needling can be done while on *DRUG NAME BLOCKED BY GOOGLE* and right after. Thanks

    • adminpim says:

Hi, for low dosage of your medication, there is still an increased risk of developing keloids. Hence, I would advise you to stop the medication and observe if it’s stable before commencing invasive treatments like TCA cross. Minimally invasive treatments like Infini Fractional RF and Fractional CO2 can be performed on the face, but not on the neck and jawline as these areas are prone to developing keloids.

  4. Serene chng says:

Hi, I am 26 years old, currently facing the acne scars issues on my cheeks. Can I make the appointment for going down to your clinic and can roughly know what treatment is suitable for me and can roughly know the price range, how much will its cost?

    • adminpim says:

Yes… Please call us at 62218221 for an appointment. Depending on your budget, we can customize the types of treatment available for you. For those who are budget conscious, they can try treatmtents like TCA cross, or fractional CO2 treatments, which cost in the range of $500 per treatment. For pigmented scars, the Q-switch NdYAG laser can help. Depending on the package, it can be around $100+ per treatment.

  5. N says:

    Hi Doc!

    I was wondering,

Is it necessary to go for treatment every 3 mths or less? What if we delay it till half a year later, will it result in any huge difference on the recovery phase? Being reasons of working overseas.

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Thank you!

    • adminpim says:

For Infini, I recommend going for 3 monthly treatments. Some doctors recommend going for monthly treatments, but it’s not necessary to suffer so much pain and downtime. It could be because they use lower settings or something, but I shouldn’t speculate. The way I do Infini, at the high settings that I have evolved over the years, it is only necessary to do a treatment once in three months, because you will see continuous improvements over three months. SO there’s really no point in interrupting the scar healing process by going for a repeat monthly treatment. For treatments like fractional CO2 which produce less collagen than Infini, monthly treatments are normal, but not for Infini.

  6. June says:

Hi Doctor, i would like to ask, for scars like those in the first picture shown on this website, can they be treated and cured totally, leaving smooth, scar-free skin?

i have done some research and it seems that ice-pick scars and box like scars cannot be treated with lasers as lasers do not help much. As such, i am really worried as i have scars similar to the ones in the picture.

    • adminpim says:

boxcar and ice pick scars can respond to different treatments. For it to be perfectly smooth is not possible, but they can be significantly improved to a point that you feel a lot more confident about your skin.

  7. Aaron says:

    Hi

I have post acne scars on my cheeks, will fractional laser helps and what’s the cost?

  8. Andy says:

    Hi Dr

Just asking. I am 24 yrs old. Last time I was a heavy swimmer and cos of that I am always exposed to tanning without any prevention that time and after my last sunburns, my face skinned off. From then onwards, I am faced with acnes and oily skin.
Now its better with some medicine control. But I am worried of the acne scars and redness. Are you able to remove it well?

    Thanks!

  9. LIN says:

    Hi,

What are the treatments oral or laser needed for comedones stuck at the jawline and forehead? And usually how many times?

I have this persisting white bumps that reappears after 2 years hiatus. And its not fun at all.

    • adminpim says:

Hi, usually comedones respond well to treatment with retinoids. You can consider using a lowe dose retinoid. We also have a very good facial treatment known as 3D, which uses a micro jet to deep cleanse small comedones. That keeps them in check usually.

  10. keith says:

Hi, I would like to ask for your opinion on the agnes machine treatment.

  11. Zzzzzz says:

Doctor ; what kind of acne scars did u have in the past ? How did u cure it and is your skin still scarred ?
I have shallow icepick scars or open pores unsure. Is it possible for complete healing ? I am scared when i get older the scars become more obvious
I am going to be 18 this year

    • adminpim says:

I had mainly boxcar scars. Shallow ice picks respond to fractional co2 laser. It’s possible to improve it significantly, but complete healing is not likely.

  12. May says:

Hi, I have a small cut across my wrist 1-2 mths ago which resulted in scarring. I would like to seek your advice what are the scar treatment and roughly how much would it cost?

    • adminpim says:

The treatment depends on the type of scarring. YOu may want to consider either lasers if the scar is flat, or if you have a keloid or hypertrophic scar, some injections may be necessary.

  13. zheng says:

    Hi Dr,

I am very interested in the Infini treatment for depressed scars, however, can I just ask, what are the potential risks of such a treatment? Are there risks of deeper scarring, hyper pigmentation etc?

    • adminpim says:

I’ve never had a case of deeper scarring. I’ve had less than 10 patients in over 3 years of using this machine that did have almost no result. I had about 3 cases of increased pigmentation. Those patients all resolved with follow up lasers which we provided free to them out of goodwill. This is out of several hundreds of patients treated.

  14. Dan says:

I have a scar on my face caused by mole removal. Mole still visible, scar is there. How much is it in total, period of treatment?

Rough estimation of Total cost for the sessions?

  15. zj says:

    Hi Dr Chow,

I have several raised and depressed scars on the nose. May I know what treatment you would recommend and how much does it roughly cost per session if it is just for the nose region?

    • adminpim says:

Raised scars respond either to steroid injection or to CO2 laser ablation. It’s not expensive to treat… ranges from 100 – 200 dollars for the treatment.

      • jz says:

        Hi Dr Chow,
I too have similar conditions on my nose which make it looks like a mild case of rhinophyma. Do you practice ablative CO2 laser and have you treated similar patients before?

        • adminpim says:

Yes. For mild rhinophyma, ablative CO2 laser is very effective. We have treated many patients with rhinophyma and hypertrophic nose scars using CO2 direct ablation.

  16. Lun says:

Hello, I’m 23 this year and I’m facing acne scars and pimples. How much would it actually cost to perform the co2 fractional laser in your clinic?

  17. Kel says:

Hi, can I ask how much will it cost to treat acne scars? It’s just a small scar but it’s rather visible so I wish to get rid of it asap. Also, I’m currently schooling so may I know if there’s any student prices as I’m afraid I might not be able to afford it 🙁 Thank you!

    • adminpim says:

Hi, if it’s just a single scar, we may be able to treat it directly, either with subcision, or laser. You may want to call up for student prices. The consultation for students is at $50.

  18. Nick says:

    Hi !
May I ask what are your consultation fee?
I have deep ice picked scars on my nose and a couple around my face!

Do get back to me as I am really keen !

    Many thanks

    • adminpim says:

My consultation fee is $80. Ice pick scars respond to subcision, and if there are a lot, you may need fractional RF. Look forward to hearing from you soon!

  19. Shamim miah says:

  23. matt heria says:

Hey man.I’m currently on antibiotics to get rid of my acne. After its gone..I will treat my scars.I have a mixture of box scars and rolling scars.I’m 15 this year. So,since I’m young and I don’t smoke, will my scars heal faster?Cause maybe in 2 years time I’m moving out of Singapore …My mom has agreed to pay for my fees and for these types of scars I’m having now, what treatments are effective and will I get my smooth soft skin back?

    • adminpim says:

Yes, if you are young and non-smoker, your scars will heal fast! You can get smooth skin but depending on how severe your acne is initially, you will may need multiple sessions. Either Fractional CO2 laser or Fractional RF. Mum is the best! 🙂

  24. Ash says:

Hi, would like to find out about the price range for subcision. Thank you!

    • adminpim says:

Depending on the amount of work needed, it car range from $50 for less work , all the way to $1k+ for full face… Obviously there is quite a spectrum 🙂

  25. Sanket says:

Hi admin, I’m too suffering from acne and deep scar’s due to dis my face has become dull. Can you help me to get out of this….

  26. Alexandra susan says:

I have problem with my face full pimple scard,,
I just asking at sunday open or not and how much todo this promblem ???

    Thank you

    • adminpim says:

We don’t open on Sundays, sorry. I need to evaluate your face before we can give an estimate. IF it’s mild, it’s easier. Deeper scars need more time, and it’s not realistic to have a full recovery for deep scars, but one can certainly get much improvement from our treatments.

  27. caroline says:

Hi i am in my late forties and i have some acne scars since my teenage years and now my skins are uneven tone with some dark patch on my cheeks also partly due to sun exposure.

i just would like to know what are the possibility of me having a clear skin on my face so that when i apply make up it will blend well .

    • adminpim says:

Sounds like you have 2 problems, pigmentation from scars and pigmentation from sun damage. Fortunately, there’s a laser that kills two birds with one stone. Come by for a q-switched Nd:YAG laser treatment and improve your scars and pigmentation at the same time.

  28. Tam says:

Hi I am tam , I have acne scar for many year already.if I am at my late 30 now .will I stand a chance to regain a smoothen complexion on my face? And can I get rid of my scar totally ?

    Plus kindly advice thanks

    Tam

    • adminpim says:

At your age, your skin will of course recover more slowly than a person who is in their early 20s. However, you can still anticipate a good result. Smoother is almost always possible. Perfectly smooth results depend on the initial severity of acne scars. If it is very severe to start with, then it’s not possible to be completely smooth. If the scars are mild, then perfectly smooth results are often possible.

      • Rodeon says:

How long can I expect to see results after undergoing my first infini treatmet ?

        • adminpim says:

After your first Infini, you should see improvements from as early as 1 to 2 weeks, although more noticeable improvements are seen after a month. Your results continue to improve over the next 3 months. I recommend interval of 3 months between treatments.

  29. diane says:

How much is the price for Nd:YAG laser ?

  31. hace Chew says:

Hi I have serious chicken pox scar that is depressed as I aged into my 30’s it seems worst with me being a heavy smoker. Is there ways to salvage my skin back to porcelain condition?

    • adminpim says:

YOu can probably not go back to porcelain, but you may be able to improve significantly to a stage where people will complement you on your skin. FIrstly, stop smoking! Smoking causes your skin to age prematurely and lose collagen. Secondly the chicken pox scars may be treated with a combination of subcision, lasers and fractional RF. Don’t lose hope. These days, scars are eminently treatable.

  32. Marie says:

HI, how much is consultation fee and whats the opening hours of your clinics

  33. Jon says:

Hey, just asking do you guys cure severe back& chest acnes for your patients? How much is the overall cost?

  34. Maria says:

    Hi;
I did infini 4 days ago and my skin became so dry it seems outer layer of my skin going to come down and my skin become red what can i do?!

    • adminpim says:

I believe it was not done at our clinic. Infini treatment has a steep learning curve and in the wrong hands can cause a fair bit of complications. I had some of these in the first few treatments I performed 3 years ago, it should mostly resolve by itself but the downtime will be longer.

  35. Bl says:

Hi, I have a few embarassing dark acne scars on my butt and they won’t go away. Do you offer laser treatment services for this particular body part? They are really dark pimple scars and I’ve been trying everything but to no avail. Please advise, thank you.

    • adminpim says:

Yes we do Q-switched Nd-Yag lasers to the buttocks for resolution of dark acne marks. I’ve had good success with these treatments but because the skin on the buttocks are thicker, the resolution takes a longer time. Typically once session needs to be done every 2-4 weeks for between 10-15 sessions for resolution. This is because skin on the buttocks heals slower than on the face. For example, when we do surgery on the face, the stitches can be removed in 1 week, but the same stitches on the buttocks needs about 3 weeks to heal. I also like to combine this with topical treatment to accelerate healing.

  36. James says:

    Hi,

I have oily skin. My pores are large. I have some depressed acne scar on my cheeks. Based on the description, may i know what treatment is recommended for my face. Although i know it varies depending on the condition, may i know roughly how much does the treatment cost and also is there any downtime. Adding on, is it possible to achieve near perfection for my face again and how many treatments do it take?

    Thanks,
    James

    • adminpim says:

You need to have some creams to control the oil. Once the acne is controlled, you can actually begin scar treatments to reduce the appearance of the scars. Depending on the depth of the scars, Infini or fractional CO2 laser may be recommended for you. Perfection or near perfection is possible, but you need to consider the start point and the end point. If you have mild scars, near perfect skin is possible. If you have moderate scarring, very good skin can be achieved, but some traces of scars may remain and a lot of commitment is needed on your part to improve the skin and come for repeated laser sessions. If you have deep scarring, you need to temper your expectations. We have helped patients with very deep scars get to a stage where they feel really good about the skin, even though there are visible scars. Obviously that also needs commitment and perseverence to treat the scars.

      • Lk says:

I just finished my course of low dosage of accutane 20mg 4 months but have some mild scarring left. What are my best options for this?

        • adminpim says:

Depending on whether it is pigmented or depressed scars, you can consider different options from laser, fractional RF, peels and creams. Better to see me and I can help you to make a decision on the best path to fix your scar problems.

  37. Sally says:

What is the cost of removing scars on the face (deep pimples scars) ? A rough cost will do

  38. Kelly says:

Hi, I have acne prone skin and last week my face broke out with acne cyst and this week another one. The acne cyst looked very inflamed and swollen. Can I know what causes the acne cyst? I am very depressed cos it is quite painful especially when I touched it. Meanwhile, I am also worried that more acne cyst will pop up and spread around my face. What should I do? Cortisone injection??

    • adminpim says:

Cortisone injections have a risk of depressed scarring. You need to quickly reduce the future production of more cysts. Big cysts almost always require the use of oral antibiotics, or stronger medicines. Don’t wait too long, seek treatment immediately before deep scars are formed.

Hi, I have pimple since secondary sch so nw is becoming better but it result as a scar I not sure wa kind of scar I have so can I make a appointment with u? Btw where is the place?

  40. Nana says:

Hi, recently at the age of teenager. My face starts to have dark spot due to pimples appear and i can’t stand them. So i start to burst the pimple and it leave a black scar on my cheeks only. Please advise how i could treat them at a low cost. How much would you treatment cose? I have tried so many product which cost so much but yet to see any effect. Please advise! Thank you.

    • adminpim says:

The black scars respond well to a q-switched Nd:Yag laser at a specific fluence that will improve the scars. Several sessions may be needed to completely clear it all.

  41. Tricia says:

    Hi,

I have combination skin, skin is oily at T-zone My pores are larger at nose and face near the nose. I have some light pitted acne scar on my cheek. My forehead skin look uneven with very small bump like oil seed, but it is empty if you try to squeeze it. My facial therapist can also do nothing to help to smoothen it.I have try a few different type of laser treatment and cosmelan treatment and all does not help in shrinking the pore and make my skin smooth.

I do need to stay outdoor most of the time due to the nature of my work.

What treatment can you offer to treat my condition?

    Thanks

    • adminpim says:

The pores could actually be tiny ice pick scars, or they could just be enlarged pores. We have a treatment called 3D cell regeneration, which uses tiny microjets to clean out the pores and inject treatment serum into the pores to help them to shrink. It’s a nice treatment that’s relatively painless and has great reviews from our patients so far.

  42. Qian ling says:

Hi,i would like to visit NSC. Do i have to make an appointment or can i just walk in?

  43. Carol ang says:

Hi i am already 48yrs, I am a diabetic, I am having acne over my chin area, is really unsightly n painful being so depressed. How much will I nd tog for consultations n medication?

    • adminpim says:

Hi Carol, acne treatment in diabetics is slightly more challenging as you have a predisposition to poor healing. In the chin area, this may be folliculitis instead of acne. It’s worthwhile to have a consultation and get a customized treatment for this.

  44. Does no scars cream work for this?
    Thanks

    • adminpim says:

Dear Karen, there are scar gels which contain silicon that are useful for bumpy scars. These are useful for those called hypertrophic scars that bump upwards. For depressions, which are more common in acne, these do not work. Because the silicon forms an occlusive cover over the skin, my experience is that these may actually worsen acne problems. Therefore I do not recommend the use in patients with acne that is still active, or in acne prone skin.

  45. jc says:

hi there i have this depressed scar due to laceration of my face..what is the proper treatment for this?..

    ty

    • adminpim says:

Depressed scars can be treated either with subcision, or laser, depending on the depth of the depression. In severe cases, we may even need to do dermabrasion.

      • jc says:

hello..can u give some tip in removing scar in natural way because most of the treatment above are expensive. thanks

        • adminpim says:

I’m not experienced with too many natural treatments for scars, but one tip for you is to stop smoking. That will definitely improve your scar healing…

  46. Rachel says:

I understand laser is for treatment of scars. I am 32 yrs. pimples, whiteheads are still popping non stop. Skin is constantly oily. I also have moderate ice pick scars on my lower cheeks.
I heard from a dermatologist that laser may aggravate pimple n acne condition due to the heat treatment.
What is your advice Dr Chow ?

    • adminpim says:

Yes laser always has a chance of triggering a worse breakout. I see this in about 5% of my patients. First treat the acne, and make sure it is stabilized and not producing new scars. I can help with that. Once you have treated your acne, we will start on a program to remove your scars.

  47. John says:

I have black scars on my face after acne, may I know what are the treatments for the scar and what is the cost for the treatment? Thanks in advance!

    • adminpim says:

I like to use a Q-switched Nd-Yag laser for this. The laser targets pigmentation and encourages fast resolution of the dark scars. Per treatment is about $300 and you only need to do it once a fortnight up to once a month. Repeated frequent treatments tend to yield diminishing returns at the expense of raising complication rate. That is not advised.

  48. Apple says:

Can I check if ur clinic does e-matrix? And how much is the charges?

    • adminpim says:

I use Infini, which is a more intensive form of e-matrix. E-matrix does not penetrate as deeply as Infini and there is no physical subcision effect of the micro-needles. That makes the result much slower than Infini. Hope this helps!

  49. Billy says:

Hi , Between Do u all provide E matrix or MiXto CO2 Fractional Laser ? It’s effective for scars ?

    • adminpim says:

We use a Korean fractional CO2 which I feel is superior to the Mixto machine in terms of results. Many patients who have used Mixto in the past have commented that our results are better. I’m also using a Korean machine known as Infini for fractional RF and the results are excellent for depressed scars, especially boxcar and rolling scars…

Hi…I am a filipino working here in sg for almost 2yrs before I worked here my face was so flawless and only get pimples if menstrual cycle is near but onky 1 to 3 but when I stayed sg for about months I got unstoppable pimples. .and im very worried. .Please help

    • adminpim says:

I have so many patients like you who have similar problems after coming here from another country. Firstly our climate is more humid and hotter and also relocating to another country creates more stress on the body from adjustment reaction. The body produces more of a hormone known as cortisol as a result. This cortisol stimulates skin to become oily and therefor you have outbreaks. Firstly we need to adjust your skincare to something more suitable to the degree of oiliness of your skin. Secondly, you need to manage your stress, and sleep earlier, allowing the body to cope with the stress better. These are good tips to reduce your acne! We can help to suggest appropriate skincare and improve the skin.

  51. Yvonne says:

Hi, I’m having acne breakout, last seen a dermatologist in 2009 and recovered since then, but having quite alot outbreak all of the sudden. Planning to visit the clinic as recommended by friends, would like to know an estimation of how much do i have to pay during the first consultation and a rough estimate cost on the medication. Thanks

    • adminpim says:

The first consultation is 80-100 and the medication could cost about $30-50 per cream/wash, depending on the type of medication recommended. I usually try to keep the skincare regimen as simple as possible, as this helps my patients stick to the regimen and produces better results. No point buying a whole bunch of creams and ditch it eventually because it takes too much time everyday to follow the plan…

  52. Rain says:

Hi, I m in mid 30s and still having acne outbreak all over face. New acne and scarring non stop! My chin now has a lot of whiteheads and once inflamed, it’s red and big. Do I wait for it to get inflamed, so it is consider ripe? Or I should do treatment to get rid of the whiteheads to prevent inflamed?

    • adminpim says:

You sound like you have a serious condition. You need to stop the scarring as soon as possible! Conventional over the counter treatments may not be strong enough for your degree of severity of acne, and you whould see a doctor to get appropriate treatment to treat your acne before further scarring occurs.

  53. Santhosh says:

I have scar problem on my face and also I want to improve my face tone.If I do fractional co2 treatment for once wat would be my result and wat is the total cost of the treatment including consultation fee everything.

    • adminpim says:

You can see improvements from the first session of fractional CO2. Repeat treatments are necessary for more improvements. The cost of a single session is $600 and in a package it is $480.

  54. esmiralda says:

I’m 40 years old..used to have pimples all over my face. Now, i’m living with horrible scars.Unfortunately I’m still fighting new pimples at this age.I’m so keen in your treatment but the question is how much roughly i should pay for over all treatment? The reason why i need to know the cost is ‘m not the one who is paying.I’ve consulted New York Skin Solution and spent almost 6k but only went for a few sessions because I didn’t find it effective.Thank you.

    • adminpim says:

I can safely say that we cost less than your previous treatment, and I’m confident you will find our treatments effective. We have many satisfied patients who recommend their friends. Good skin is priceless!

  55. Kasey says:

    Hi Dr!

I am currently in my twenties and I have really large and clogged pores. I read earlier on that ppl may have mistaken ice picks as large pores. May I know what sort of treatment is suitable for me as I have rather sensitive skin and the number of treatments required? And I do have acne scars too. Pls advice! Thanks!

    • adminpim says:

For pores, the treatment may vary depending on whether it is scars, or just oily skin. Usually, for oily skin problems, just using our 3D facial program will suffice. Our 3D system is a unique microjet facial with 50 micron microjets to clean out each pore individually, while injecting tiny amounts of carbonic acid to stimulate pore closure. If the problem is scars, I like to treat using fractional Radiofrequency, or fractional CO2 laser. The number of sessions varies from 5-10 depending on the endpoint you want to achieve and the severity of the scars to begin with.

  56. Saphia says:

Hi,I’m 32+ female and I had acne & scar on my face. It started when I turned 30 years old. I would like to know how many times of laser treatment must I go and what are the package price for the laser treatment? Thank you.

    • adminpim says:

The lasers for pigmented scars usually require about 5-10 sessions, depending on severity and also on how fast your skin heals. As you are now 30+, we do not expect your skin to heal as well as when you are 18 or 20. So you should be mentally prepared that your skin may take longer to heal. The packages vary, but the range is about 280-480 per session depending on the type of laser.

  57. James says:

    Hi doc,

How much does each infini treatment cost? What’s the package cost for it, if there is any?

    • adminpim says:

Infini list price is $1850 per session in a pkg of 4. Fractional CO2 price is $480 per session in a package of 5. The price for Infini is a lot higher due to the special disposable single-use head, and also the fact that it needs to done in a sterile environment. That said, the patient feedback for Infini, in particluar for deep acne scars, is a lot better. This is because it can penetrate much deeper (up to 3.5mm) as opposed to fractional laser and other superficial RF treatments which only go to around 1-1.5 mm deep. I have a lot of patients who have gone from Infini, tried a first session of CO2, and then went back to doing Infini as the results are better and the downtime is shorter than CO2.

  58. James says:

Hi, I am currently 22yo. I am suffering from enlarged pores and acne scars. My enlarged pores are not the ones that is shown in the pictures, it is on visible if you look at me up close. And my acne scars are like the one shown in the second picture, which is like a pigmentation.I was actually thinking that the scares will fade as the time pass or that I use whitening facial cleansers and products. Is there a remedy to it and how much does it cost? And how long does it take to see the results? Thank you. 🙂

    • adminpim says:

The scars fill fade over time, but with lasers it will be much faster. The results can be seen from the first treatment, but a few treatments are necessary for complete clearance. Enlarged pores respond well to our new 3D Regeneration treatment, which utilizes micro jets to clean out and stimulate pore closure. Some enlarged pores are actually tiny ice pick acne scars. This requires CO2 laser or Infini treatments to improve.

  59. noraisa says:

fgdfgdim on im on icepick for my scars are deep..how much will it cost all and how many months to cure it all

    • adminpim says:

I don’t have confidence to “cure it all” especially if we are talking about deep ice pick scars. We can however improve the condition after many treatements of laser/fractional RF. I need you to have a reasonable expectation of the results before we commence any treatment for you. During our consultation, I will show you pictures of what is reasonable to expect. MOH does not allow me to show before/after photos on our websites. I hope this helps!

  60. FERA says:

And put some cream,,,but my face getting red,
What should I do,,,??? Continue eat this or how???
Pleaseeeee I really don’t know what must I do,,,

    • adminpim says:

You should go back to the doctor who prescribed you this medicine to ask him to explain the side effects to you. Some acne medications have side effects. Kind of like what you are experiencing. This is why my patients are closely followed up to make sure that we adjust the dosages for them to minimize side effects. This is also the reason I don’t charge for repeat consultations. I want my patients to come back as often as they want so we can fine tune the meds for them. If you don’t want to go back to the other doctor, please bring your medications to show to me, so I can help you with adjusting the dosages. If it is possible, i won’t ask you to buy new meds so that you don’t waste money buying repeat medicine.

  61. queen says:

    I’m 15.
I have the occasional pimple pop ups and I really want them gone and I also have ance scars; can tell you tell what I need to do?

    • adminpim says:

Occasional pimples are easily treated by just changing your skincare to a suitable range. We can treat acne scars depending on the type and severity. At your age I suspect it is just pigmented scars. They can be treated with a regular Nd:YAG laser treatment.

  62. Julien says:

Hi,I’m 32 male and I had suffer from acne scar on my face for many years now.I would like to know how many times of laser treatment must I go for, what are the downtime and what are the package price for your Fractional laser treatment? Thank

    • adminpim says:

As you are past 30, the results of scar treatment are slower since skin heals slower with age. But better to treat it now than wait till you are 40! Depending on the severity of the acne scars, most people usually go for between 5-10 treatments. Also depends very much on what kind of final result you will be happy with. Come by for a consultation and we can show you some pictures.

  63. Felise says:

Hi I am from Msia & will be in Sgp on Thursday evening & interested to get rid of saggy skin & some pigmentation. I am currently on Iso for bad acne. My daughter also has acne on arms & back. And also burnt scars on leg. Please advise cost and what can be done for both of us. Thanks.

    • adminpim says:

Saggy skin can be treated with our Fractional RF treatment called Infini. Pigmentation responds well to lasers and Cosmelan. Acne treatment needs to be individualized and depending on your skin I may suggest either topical or oral treatment. Burn scars can be treated with lightening creams and our Q-switched Nd:YAG laser.

  64. Narendhar says:

Hello doctor,in my lips there is whiterose colour scar is it removable by laser treatment ?

    • adminpim says:

Unfortunately most light coloured scars (white or lighter than normal skin color) are not treatable. A good consultation will help us to clarify if your scar is treatable.

  65. Ong Jeannie says:

Hi..I in the age of 36.had some ance problem on my face. .looked popped n red..tried some cream bought fro waston.but seemed no use.wat treatment shd I use

    • adminpim says:

Acne Creams are needed. We will adjust the type of cream based on your severity and condition of the skin, as well as the type of acne, whether it is comedones, papules, pustules, nodules or cysts. These creams are not available over the counter and need a doctor’s letter.

  66. benjamin ong says:

whats the price for each treatment?

  67. Taufiq says:

    Hey Doc.

I have severe acne problems and scars since teenage age. It consist on cyst acne or sudden breakout at uncommon/common places . Ive tried doct med before but it became worst. So the only way to “calm” my acne is spending on facial stuff but still unsolved.

    Help or solution?? :]

    • adminpim says:

Cystic Acne usually requires the use of antibiotics. In severe cases, Oral medication may be needed.

  68. Bea says:

Hi, do the treatments need to be continuously done for results to be seen? Or can I opt to go for it as and when I am financially prepared for it (as the treatments are pretty pricey per session)? But might that slow down the healing process as a whole?

    • adminpim says:

Fastest results come from Infini Fractional Radiofrequency treatment, which is done every 3 months. Spacing out the treatments is not a big issue. It just slows down the overall process. I hope this helps!

  69. Daph says:

Hi Dr, I am having an acne pit of 1.5cm in length at the moment due to pricking and infection, just one, what type of treatment would you recommend and whats the cost like? It looks like an ice-prick scar.

    • adminpim says:

Wow. SOunds serious. You probably need to have some kind of subcision since it is just one. Following that, we may suggest either Fractional CO2 laser, or Infini Frational Radiofrequency treatment for deeper scars. Either way, it may take several months to improve the appearance of the scar.

  70. Cy says:

    Hi,

For CO2 laser treatment or injection around my nose and
Hypopigmented scar, how much roughly it will cost?

Plus the surgery procedure if there’s a need as advised on 9 may.

I’m really keen if its within my budget.

  71. Daphne says:

hi to continue on, the scar is actually not rounded but a small oval shape, there is only one that I would really like to fix, could you advice me on that?

    thanks so much in advance!

    • adminpim says:

It can be fixed with subcision if it is deep, and subsequently with Fractional RF or fractional CO2 treatment.

  72. Daphne says:

    Hi,

I am having a slightly dented in shallow pit on the left side of my forehead next to my brows due to acne where I hurt my skin probably due to pricking, I am currently in my 20s, I would like to know if fillers or demabrasion or what would be the best method to bring my skin to a smooth surface? and what would the cost be like?

    Thank you!

  73. J says:

Can I know the cost for hypertrophic scar and how many sessions are usually needed?

    • adminpim says:

Hypertrophic scars are easily treated with injections and this ranges from $50+ depending on how many scars to be treated. Most patients need between 1-3 sessions, but some scars are stubborn. Patients who have keloids end up needing more than a few treatment but this is rare on the face. Body acne does form into resistant keloids, which tends to be a bigger problem. This is because they tend to recur on the chest and back, even after they have completely flattened.

  74. felicia says:

Hi, I been having acne issues since I’m 14 and right now I’m turning 26 and what I have left is acne scars and acne marks.

I have tried IPL, Chemical Peel(still on going for my treatments), am I’m suitable for any of the above treatments.

    Does YAG laser helps?

    • adminpim says:

Sounds like you need not only the YAG laser, but also fractional RF (Infini) and fractional CO2. It has been 1.5 years since I adopted the Infini Microneedle RF treatment and now after testing so many machines from Fractional Erbium YAG to Fractional CO2, other fractional RF treatments like eMatrix, eTwo, Scarlet, Intracel etc… I am now absolutely convinced that Infini is currently the best machine on the market for deep pitted scars, especially the boxcar scars and rolling scars. My protocol has evolved over the last 1.5 years and I am getting far better results now than when I followed the manufacturer’s suggested protocols for acne scars. This is because the microneedles have a subcision effect that can mechanically disrupt tough scar tissue, that is not possible for non-needle based treatment that rely solely on heat.

  75. CW says:

    Hi Doctor Chow

Good day. I am into my forties. I have been dealing with hormonal acne of late. Not just the acne but also loads of white spot and also oil gland has been very active to the point that it’s a daily affair. I am currently on hormonal cream but it doesn’t seems to be helping and it just got worse.

Could you advise what can be done and what is the advice based on the above. Look forward to your reply.

    • adminpim says:

You can try creams that reduce sebum production, and also some creams to minimize comedone formation. You should also get checked for polycystic ovarian syndrome as this is one cause of hormonal acne that is often missed. Another tip is to check for vitamin D deficiency, which happens in a lot of office workers as we don’t get enough sunlight. Replacing Vit D sometimes cured adult acne in some of my deficient patients.

  76. Cy says:

    Hi,

I have a scar like white colour as I had a bad cut with the broken glass on my finger and had to be ‘sew’.Its not that big just a 5 cent coin size. However the scar remains there like forever even though I tried so many types of creams for so many years.
I had some mole extraction years ago on my hand and the scar remains too.
And my nose there’s like scars around it but doesn’t seems to go away.
It’s not those blemishes type more like small and bumpy type.
Doctor recommends retacny* tretinoi* cream for this.
But I want to try laser treatment.
    Any advise?
    The price for the treatment?
    Thank you.

    • adminpim says:

Hi, hypopigmented scars (white scars) are usually not treatable with creams. It is easy to remove excess pigmented cells, but in scars where there is not enough pigmented cells, it is difficult to replace them. For poor scar healing, it is best to revise the scar surgically, meaning we will get our plastic surgeon to cut away the old scar and replace it with a nicely stitched fresh scar which should heal better and smaller. Nose scars which are bumpy can be treated with either injection or CO2 laser excision, where I will shave the scar down with a CO2 laser. However, these scars can sometimes recur and multiple treatments may be necessary.

    • Jojo says:

      Hi Dr,
I’m in late 20’s. I have mild acne, large pores, acne scars and pigmentation problem. My skin is dry but my inner layer of skin is quite oily. I tried laser treatment for my scars and still on going for now but it didn’t seems to get better. I want to get rid of all the problems above. Please advise

      • adminpim says:

I would need more information about the type of scars you suffer from. You need to get to the root of the problem, which is treatment of acne. Stop the acne first, and treat the scars concurrently. We have good solutions for all the different types of scars, ranging from pigmented scars to depressed or bumpy scars.

  77. Yong says:

    Hi,

I am in my 40s and I would like to reduce my pore size. What sort of treatment can you advice? How long and what is cost of the treatment?

    • adminpim says:

You can try the CO2 laser or Infini for building up the collagen below the skin. Usually people with big pores may actually be suffering from small ice pick scars, due to repeated pimple squeezing in that area. A YAG laser used together will usually improve the result. I should point out that ice pick scars are the hardest type of depressed scars to treat.

  78. Jansen says:

    Hi Doctor,

I have couple of scars on my leg which I got when I was about 14. They are raised and reddish. The scars (3cm and 2cm on my right leg and 3cm on my left knee)has been bothering me for quite sometime already and I think they are hyper tropic scars. Please advise me the treatment and cost wise. Thanks!

    • adminpim says:

These could be either hypertrophic scars or keloid scars. Leg scars don’t heal well, and take a longer time than the face. Usually you may require some injections to fix this.

  79. Avery says:

How much are we looking at per session for the Fractional Radiofrequency Treatment or Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment? Thank you!

  80. Ruth says:

Hi I have a few puffy scars on my nose I want to know if theres any cure for it and would like to know the rate of the cost. Thankyou.

    • adminpim says:

These are likely to be hypertrophic scars, or keloids. You may use a CO2 laser to ablate them (not fractional CO2), or just use injections directly into the scars to treat them.

  81. Ezhilmaran says:

    Hi Doc,
I have small fatty tumor on my face. Can we remove that by laser treatment. If its possible means how much of cost for that treatment.. Kindly reply me…

    • adminpim says:

Small ones are usually easily removed with a CO2 laser (not fractional CO2), we need to have a look at it before commenting further.

  82. Micheal Lee says:

    Hi doctor,

Recently I was punched by a drunk stranger and resulted in a 1.5-cm long laceration dented line scar on my skin area beneath my eye area. Athough the hospital doctor did use glue to close the wound on that first day, but my this 1.5 cm scar is still a DENTED line scar.

My question is will your laser treatment be able to help me remove this scar or close the dent totally?

Or for my case I need to go see a plastic surgeon?

I look forward to your reply.

    • adminpim says:

For shallow dents, we can remove them with Fractional CO2 laser. Deeper ones may require attention of our plastic surgeon. We can advise after a detailed consultation.

  83. Monica Ng says:

Hi my hubby had similar facial condition as the top photo. Would like to check what treatment are recommended? Fractional CO2 treatment? If so, how many treatments are required and cost per session? Thks

    • adminpim says:

Fractional CO2 and Fractional Radiofrequency treatment are necessary. Subcision is also needed for some of the deeper scars. In severe cases, and if he’s OK with more downtime, we can even perform dermabrastion for him.

  84. J says:

Hi I have severe body acne marks and have tried tca peels, creams etc but it didn’t quite work. It is extremely depressing and I would like to know if laser is possible on back plus how much would it cost. Thank you so much !

    • adminpim says:

Body marks take a longer time to fade, maybe twice to three times as long as on the face. With a Q-switched NDYAG laser, the fading is accelerated.

  85. Amanda says:

Hi, I’m 19 years old and I think I have mild acne and some acne scars(with reddish bumps) on my nose and I want to get rid of those. My skin is quite oily and I have large pores but there are times when it gets flaky at some parts of my face, so I’m still quite unsure of my skin type. Before I make an appointment, I would like to know if one treatment is enough to improve my skin condition and is there any downtime for it?
    Thanks.

    • adminpim says:

Dear Amanda, unfortunately one treatment is not enough for acne or scar treatment. Typically my patients take about 3 months to completely clear up their acne, but you will see 30-40 percent improvement of acne after one month. For patients with acne scars, it depends on their skin healing. However, I’m confident most patients will see a difference in their scars after each treatment. The final result depends on a lot of factors, including patient’s skin condition and healing, depth of the original scars and age, gender and smoking habits of the patient.

  86. CE says:

Hi! I’m 22 years old and always have pimples that just never grows or pop after a long time. They always form hard balls beneath the skin which appears really dark in color. May I know which treatment can get rid of these and the cost of it? May I also know usually how many sessions are required? Thanks you.

    • adminpim says:

Usually for your case, you sound like you have nodular acne. You may need antibiotics and even oral retinoids. You need to get this treated urgently so that these deep nodules don’t leave scars. Nodulo-pustular acne is resposible for leaving very deep and craggy scars which are very difficult to treat. Remember, acne treatment is easy, but acne scar treatment is a long drawn out, painful and expensive process.

  87. Yap Xinlin says:

Hi Doctor, I have scars and red/purple marks around my face. At the same time, still having active acne breakout. How would the treatments be like for me? I have tried micro laser but it’s not very effective.

    • adminpim says:

You need to treat the breakouts first, before you spend any more money on the scar treatments. No point fixing a plane while it is still flying… Stop the new scars, then treat the old ones. My experience with Micro Laser peel is mixed. Quite a high percentage of patients actually got worse breakouts after the carbon peel or micro laser peel, to the extent that i no longer use it on my patients, although I still have lots of carbon cream sitting around doing nothing!

  88. Toh says:

My son is 15. He got alot of pimples on his face n back. Had been trying various products. I have sourcing various ways to reduce his condition.
    1) can you advice what kind of treatment would you recommend to him?
    2) as i have a budget constraint, can you advise estimately the cost of treatment for the teenager?
    Please advise. Thanks.

    • adminpim says:

I have great products for both chest and back, and also for the face. I need to see him to understand the severity before I can recommend a course of treatment that is suitable for him and his lifestyle. Some treatments have side effects and especially for a teenager who is usually active in sports and sun exposure, these products may not be suitable for him. Expecially for Vitamin A related products. Treatment usually ranges from around $100 for creams/wash etc. and if you want to have faster treatment to arrest the acne faster, peels and lasers cost between $200+ to $400+.

  89. joe says:

    Hi Doc,
I have black scars from numullar eczema on my legs. Right now my legs look like a spotted hyena. Is there anything I can do to remove the black marks. They resemble something like those in this picture

    http://www.skinsight.com/child/nummularDermatitis-whosAtRisk.htm

What would the rates of a full course of treatment be?
    Thank you!

    • adminpim says:

I would suggest a lightening cream and the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. On the legs, this takes a longer time to fix, as the skin on the legs heal much slower than on the face. Typically between 10-15 sessions are needed to lighten, PROVIDED you don’t make any new scars in the process, so control of the eczema is critical.

  90. Ashley says:

I looking for a treatment for my acne scars and clog pore skin . What treatment should I taking ?

    • adminpim says:

Acne scars can be treated via a variety of treatments, from lasers, radiofrequency, to surgical procedures and injections. We need to get more specifics before I can recommend a course of treatment. During our consultation, I will show you Powerpoint slides on the various treatments available and also discuss the correct strategy tailored to your condition.

    Thank you

    oral medication.

There are many different approaches to Acne treatment. This is beyond the scope of just one forum post. I like to combine lasers with treatment for best results. Some creams do thin the skin. This may be necessary to achieve the acne cure. Facial products usually range from below $100 to $250, depending on your condition. I can tailor a treatment plan that suits your budget also. I also like to use a deep salicylic acid peel for treatment in selected cases. Some cases which are very resistant need oral treatment.

  92. Nis says:

    Hello!
I have acne problems, almost every part of my face. I use a lot of treatments for it. However, i keep changing the products i use many times. Is this really bad for the skin? As currently i am getting more pimples than i used to.
    Thank you!

    • adminpim says:

You need to get on a good treatment plan and stick to it. After that, you can start to tail down the treatment once your skin stabilises. If you are getting more acne, this means that your current treatment regimen is not sufficiently effective. An effective treatment plan means that there are ZERO pimples on your face for majority of the time, with the occasional zit or two that may pop up once or twice a month.

  93. Shawn says:

Hi I would like to ask, do u treat severe body acne?

    • adminpim says:

Yes the treatment for body acne is quite simple. We use antibiotics in milder cases and oral iso-tretin0in in more severe cases.

  94. juraidah says:

hi..i got pimples and open pores on my face since young..tried alot of product but nothing seems to change..can it be treated?how much is the tretment?

    • adminpim says:

Yes acne is simple to treat. Scars are a lot more difficult. Please treat your acne as early as possible so you don’t have to live with scars.

  95. Mrs Koh says:

    Hi,

My son is 16 years old and has scars left by his pimples. I want to know the treatment you can have on his face, duration and how much. He is a competitive swimmer. Will your treatment require him to stop swimming while under “treatment”? His pimples are lesser now and I wish to know if they will resurface and grow again after treatment since he is in his teenage years now.Thank you.

    • adminpim says:

Scars can be treated, but first we like to treat the pimples to ensure that new scars are not formed while we are treating the acne. Pimples can resurface at any time of your life, and these need to be treated once they resurface to prevent scarring. The treatments for the scars will require him to be out of the pool for maybe 2-3 days after each treatment. Other than that, he can go back to swimming. Try some days of gym instead? Acne treatments can continue even while he is swimming regularly.

  96. Danish says:

Hi, I gt acne scars on my cheeks. Is there any treatment dat u can recommend?? IS there like a package so i can at least do my calculation? thx =)

    • adminpim says:

There are several options for acne scar treatments. These range from lasers to radiofrequency or even surgical treatments. I need to understand your condition to tailor a plan that will work for you. The packages for laser and radiofrequency are all 4+1 (buy 4 get 1 free). For pigmented scars, I like to use a YAG laser. For depressed scars, try fractional radiofrequency (RF) or fractional CO2 laser.

  97. Zena says:

Hi,I am 13 this year. I have a reddish pimples scar on my face… What can i do to make it disappear? ):

    • adminpim says:

These are the easiest form of pimple scars to treat. Just use a YAG laser on them every 2-4 weeks and they will usually fade almost completely after 5 sessions. This is provided you don’t make any new ones in the meantime!

      • Nicole says:

Hi, I’m 13 this year and I have reddish pimples scars on my face , may I know how much will it cost if I want it to disappear ? Thanks

        • adminpim says:

You will need between 5-10 sessions of laser, which costs 1200 – 2400 SGD. It will take about 3-6 months to disappear, assuming you have no new pimples. What I like to do is to clear up your acne concurrently using creams and topicals. Laser helps with acne control as well.

  98. Simon says:

I would like to know if pore minimizing treatment is available. Im male with age 30 plus.
    If yes:
    1) roughly how long or how many sessions will it take?
    2) roughly how much in total will i need to spend?
    3) can i see some result after 1st visit or treatment?

    • adminpim says:

Yes. The number of sessions depends on the severity of your condition. It usually costs $480 per session. Some people may confuse ice-pick scars with pores. Ice pick scars are much harder to treat and require many many sessions to improve.

  99. Starry says:

Hi, I have acne scars on my cheeks and chin. I’ve used many different kinds of creams, they lighten the scars but can’t be totally remove. I like to know how much does it costs per session for acne scar removal and how much is the consultation fees.

    Thanks

  100. May says:

    Dear Dr. Chow,
Fractional CO 2 vs Practional-XC which laser treatment more good result and downtime for acne scar?

    Thank you.

    May

    • adminpim says:

I tried both machines. Sciton ProFractional XC is only marginally more effective but for the same depth of treatment, the big disadvantage is that the face continues to bleed for a few days. For Fractional CO2, because the wavelength of the laser also coagulates and closes blood vessels, there is hardly any bleeding. Therefore the downtime is less.

  101. San says:

May I know, pimple red mark on the face able to remove? And how much it will cost?

    • adminpim says:

Red marks are the easiest to remove. A YAG laser at the correct setting can remove usually in 5 sessions only. The cost is $280 per session in a package of 5.

      • San says:

So after each laser session can I still put on make up? Or totally no make up? Any guarantee after 5 sessions, marks will totally disappear? Any creams that need to apply after each session? Medication (IF there is) paying separately or is included in $280 per session?

  102. Zakiyah says:

My son is 15 years old. He has begun having oily skin and acne. Since he is young what kind treatment will he need. Please advice .

    • adminpim says:

He needs treatment quickly to ensure that he does not form scars. I usually prescribe a oil control wash, treatment cream and oil control moisturizer which is oil free. These products have been selected by me after testing a wide range of products on the market. Acne treatment is cheap and effective. Scar treatment is harder.

  103. Zara says:

I am 44 yrs old and still having problem of new pimples and pimples scars. Can your organisation solve it? I don’t know what is it but and this age I’m still fighting pimples.

  104. Wt says:

hi, i have hyperpigmentation on my face left by acne which has healed (no pitted scar). i have been using lightening products on my face but the result is very slow. i wanted to do micro abrasion at the place where i am having my facial but the beautician refuses to do it for me because she said i have clogged pores and some minor pimples popping every now and then.

am i suitable to do any surgery for my hyperpigmentation? which one will you recommend? how much will it cost roughly and is there any risk to the surgery, e.g disfiguration, uneven skin colour etc? and also, how long will it take for the hyperpigmentation to heal completely? they have been on my face for a yr or so, some longer.

    Thanks.

    • adminpim says:

Hyperpigmentation is easily treated using the YAG laser. There is no downtime, and it is an extremely safe procedure. Almost impossible to be disfigured from this treatment. They take about 5 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart for most people.

  105. Glen says:

I am planning to do a consultation from your doctors first and discuss what possible treatment is bets for me. I have Acne problems on face, neck and some parts of my body.
Want to ask how much i need to pay right away for consultation for first time visit. I am a foreigner working here in SG. Thanks

  106. Stan says:

Hi I have moderate boxcar acne scars for 20 years (now 38 yrs old). Except on my forehead, they are spread out all over on my face. May I know:

    1) What treatment would be recommended
    2) Estimate number of treatment
    3) Estimated cost of treatment
    4) MC requirement (ie when can return to work)

    Thank you.

    Stan

    • adminpim says:

Boxcar scars usually need a combination of Fractional RF and Fractional CO2 treatments. The number of treatments needed varies according to a few factors:

      1. Your expectation of how smooth a final result you with to achieve,
      2. Your rate of skin healing
      3. Your age (younger tends to be better)
      4. Your gender (my female patients tend to do better)
      5. Smoking (nonsmokers tend to do better)

Cost of each treatment starts at $480, and usually you are looking at 2-3 days of downtime. Most patients like to visit us on Friday and go back to work on Monday.

    during school days.

    • adminpim says:

For resistant pigmented scars, I like to use a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. It takes many treatments but over time it is usually very effective.

  108. cheche says:

I had many scars on my legs some are depressed and some are just pigmented. I really really wanted to wear skirts and shorts outside but i can’t. I wanted to know how would you go about it? If fractional CO2 laser is also the treatment, how much is the rate per area/leg? what is the interval of each session? and how much do i have to pay initially? please… I’m so tired of wearing pants and long skirts. I tried chemical peeling and whitening tablets before.thank you.

    • adminpim says:

Leg scars heal three times to four times as slowly as scars on the face. Therefore, you should expect to be spending a lot more time treating leg scars than on face scars. A good example is when we do operations. Operations on the face can have stitches taken out on the 5th day, but on the legs, it can take as long as 20 days before the stitches can come off safely. That said, the treatment of scars can still be done on the leg. I commonly treat pigmented scars on the legs with a YAG laser, and in combination with the fractional CO2 laser. The scars are usually darker in the first few weeks of treatment, but lighten up gradually over the following months. Monthly treatment is expected to see good results.

      • cheche says:

Hi again. thank you for the response. Can u tell me how much is the YAG laser and fractional CO2 laser? Is this a once a month treatment? thanks!

  109. kath says:

I have visited many doctors and dermatologist for my pimples, pitted spots, uneven skin tones,,, i spent soo much xash on treating my face until i gave up,,, i just want to knw is there are permanent cure by treating inside and outside,,,

    • adminpim says:

Yes and No. Depending on your condition, the final result can vary. It took you many years to make those scars, it will also take you many months to treat them. Some patients are able to see good improvements, but if you are seeking perfection, this may not be possible if your acne scars are very bad. This is the reason why I prefer to treat acne before the scars have formed. It’s a lot easier to prevent than treat. That said, all may not be lost. Drop by and we can advise you if your scars are treatable or not, and to what extent.

  110. Ed says:

I’ve scarrings as seen on the top picture of this page and would like to know if they can be removed. If yes, what kind of treatment is recommended and could you advise the estimated cost of treatments. Thanks.

    • adminpim says:

Yes they can be removed. If they are not too deep, usually fractional CO2 laser treatment is used. There are many generation of Fractional CO2 lasers and the more recent ones give better results with less pain and down time. Each session costs $480 in a package of 5. Ala-carte is $600 each. Results are also very dependent on how experienced and aggressive the operator of the laser is. We are able to share with you on how to maximise results with less treatments, but a lot depends on the downtime that you can afford, as the skin will be red for a couple of days. I also have a treatment utilizing fractional RadioFrequency which is useful for deeper scars. This is an excellent treatment with good results and less downtime. Finally for this gentleman in the picture, he had some ice-pick scars, which usually does not respond to lasers or radiofrequency. We will suggest subcision or excision for these patients.

  111. Chen says:

    Hi Dr Chow
Can I also like to know about what are the NO DOWN TIME treatment for uneven skin tone.
    Txs

    • adminpim says:

For No down time, we usually use a Q-switched ND:YAG laser (also commonly called Medlite), to improve skin tone, lighten scars and blemishes. A course of 5 monthly sessions is necessary.

  112. Chen says:

    Hi Dr Chow
I like to know there is a PPX Pro Equipment in the market which claim that any skin problem(acne/pigmentation/Brown spot) can be treated also very safe and painless.
Can we actually compare with IPL.
May i know what treatment is good for pimple mark and pigmentation?
    Txs.

    • adminpim says:

For pimple scars, I like to recommend a no-down time treatment. We usually use a Q-switched ND:YAG laser (also commonly called Medlite), to improve skin tone, lighten scars and blemishes. A course of 5 monthly sessions is necessary.

  113. Zen says:

    Hi, I’m Zen.

Schooling. I’ve got scar, should be considered ice pick.

I’d like to know the rates for curing this type of scars & usually how many session is needed for it.

    • adminpim says:

Ice pick scars may respond fastest with subcision first, followed by many sessions of fractional CO2 laser or fractional Radiofrequency treatment. Subcision costs between $100 – $1000 depending on how many scars you have. Fractional treatment starts at $480 per session. Usually for ice pick scars many treatments are needed as they are the deepest and hardest to treat.

  114. Saravanan says:

    Hi I am Saravanan
working in Marine industry in singapore
I would like to know the rate for acne scar removal

    • adminpim says:

Treatments range between 280 for Q-switched Yag Laser treatments, to $480 for fractional CO2 treatments. A customised plan is recommended and we will suggest that for you during your consultation.

  115. Charles says:

Hi, I have a problem of just slight depressed scars, after my teenage years. Can this be treated. I’m now past 30, and the scars seem to be getting worse.

    • adminpim says:

Hi Charles, slight depressed scars respond well to fractional CO2 laser treatment. The reason why the scars are getting deeper with age is because as we age, our skin loses collagen and this is more pronounced below the scars. Therefore, we can suggest fractional CO2 treatment which breaks some of the scar tissue, and stimulates your skin to produce new collagen. This has a double effect on making your skin smoother with less scars, as well as looking significantly younger. One treatment is enough to see a result, with best results usually after several treatments.

      • Ruth says:

I hv a few small puffy scars on my nose and I would like know to know if theres any cure for it. I would like to know the rate of the cost too. Thank you.

      • Yong Liang says:

Hi ,I’am 20 this year, I got this acne scar seen secondary school until now .what can I do with it ?

        • adminpim says:

You can consider fractional CO2 laser, fractional RF or even dermabrasion. There are many treatments and we need to see you to advise what the best treatment is.

    • LIAN says:

Hi, i’m 17 and ever since I was in secondary schools until now, my pimples can’t stop popping out and there’s a lots of blemishes on my forehead and my chin. What’s the solution to cure it? ):

      • adminpim says:

Acne Creams are needed. We will adjust the type of cream based on your severity and condition of the skin, as well as the type of acne, whether it is comedones, papules, pustules, nodules or cysts. These creams are not available over the counter and need a doctor’s letter. For the blemishes, many of my patients are grateful for the use of a Nd:YAG laser which speeds the healing of the blemishes. I use a cream that has a synergistic effect with the lasers to further enhance the resolution of the acne blemishes.
