07 Aug Clarisonic Pro With Deep Pore Brush Head Review
As many of you will know, I’ve been a big fan of Clarisonic products for my patients. Especially those with acne and comedone problems. Since I started my wife (and patients) on Clarisonic Pro, I’ve never looked back. Today I’ve tested the Clarisonic Deep Pore brush head with my Clarisonic Pro brush for nearly 2 weeks now, and here are my thoughts on this product.
Firstly, a word about the Clarisonic PRO brush. Now if you visit the Clarisonic website, you will not see this brush listed. This is because the PRO version of the brush is a high speed version of the brush that oscillates at a higher frequency than their top of the line brush, the Clarisonic PLUS. The PRO brush is sold only to clinics and is intended for us to perform facial treatments in the clinic. However, this pack is available to my patients as a take home kit so that they can benefit from the additional cleaning capabilities of the PRO brush, without having to come to the clinic for facial treatments. The price is also oddly enough, the same as what you would pay for a Clarisonic PLUS, the consumer version, so for the same money, it makes sense to get the PRO brush.
When the folks from L’oreal, who distribute Clarisonic locally passed me a Deep Pore brush head kit, I was quite happy to test it, because the Clarisonic PRO that my wife has been using for several months now had made significant improvements to her skin (less bumps and comedones, and brighter glow) and I was keen to see what the new brush would do.
We had a good laugh at the tagline on the brochure, which really caught my eye : “If you are a man, you have pores. If you have pores, you need Clarisonic Deep Pore” LOL!
On to the review.
The Brush kit comes with a mask and a special pore cleansing solution. There was also a new brush head, with slightly stiffer bristles than the standard brush. I’ve tried the Normal brush, the body brush and the very soft luxe brush heads before. This one is by far the stiffest. That’s not a problem though, because unlike other cheaper brush cleaning systems, Clarisonic works on an oscillating head system, which means that the brush does not go round and round, but actually goes forwards and backwards in a tiny, almost vibrational movement. When it is turned on, it feels like your face is being gently vibrated by the brush, and you can’t really feel the stiffness of the bristles too much.
I used the maximum speed (most effective) with no problems and washed one half of my face with the brush. The packaged cleanser was pretty good, and after cleansing, my face felt very clean and very smooth. I washed the other half using only the same cleanser, but with my normal brush head. Sensation wise, it was pretty much the same, with the Deep Pore brush feeling only slightly stiffer on the face.
I’m a man, and I have pores. In fact, I’m a closet member of Pores Anonymous! So while MOH does not allow me to post before and after photos of my patients, I’m posting a clinical trial photograph of two sides of my face, one which has been treated with the Deep Pore brush and the other with the standard brush for your comparison.
Subjectively, I felt that one side of my face had larger pores and the other, was slightly better. You can decide which one is which for yourself…
My wife has been using the Deep Pore for nearly 2 weeks now, and the feedback is excellent. She hasn’t had any of those small little comedones and the skin looks nice and smooth.
I can’t endorse products as a doctor, but I can safely say that the Clarisonic Deep Pore brush lives up to its claims after subjective testing. More objective tests would be needed to come to a scientific conclusion whether this brush really works to reduce Acne and Comedones, and I would be happy to conduct these tests in future given the chance.
Disclaimer: I have financial interest in Clarisonic cleansing systems, because I sell this brush at my clinic, and have received free samples of this brush for my personal testing. This review is not solicited by Clarisonic or L’oreal, and represents my personal opinion of the product.
